Orange is the new black

Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow.

Wassily Kandinsky

Don’t turn your back away
Don’t push me too hard
Just to see how far I’ll go
I’m still learning to cope
With my hopes and fears
And it’s not easy…
So I dress my brain in orange
To hide the inner darkness
I cover my life with this colour
I accept what others reject
And guess what?
It works out just fine
It cheers me up, finally.

The world is on fire

Red feelings
Red life
Red anger
Red fears
Red love
Red blood
Red lights
Red hope
Red mire

Red beings
Red knife
Red answer
Red tears
Red dove
Red mud
Red fights
Red stroke
Red fire

From Martinique with love

In order to write about life first you must live it.

Ernest Hemingway

A friend of mine sent me this picture. What a lovely gift! I love flowers and this one is special because it blooms in exotic places.
I wonder which name I’ll give it. I don’t care about its common name and even less to the scientific one. I’ll just call it… LIFE!
I know how trivial it is, but for the past year we almost forgot how magical life can be. Since March 2020 we are struggling, deep frying, surviving, fighting against an invisible monster.
Shall this flower remind us that simple things can make the difference.
Shall this flower coulour up our sad days.
Shall this flower pink our lives.
Shall this flower envelop us in a soft fragrance.
Shall this flower help us to face our fears.
Shall this flower keep us on the bright side.
Shall this flower show us that love will never die.

How long must we wait
To be, once for all, safe?
How far shall we go
To let our dreams flow?
How many words do I have to say
To show you I love you every day?
How much loneliness do I have to bare
To prove you that I really care?
How old will I be
When you decide to stay with me?
How fast can we run
Just to enjoy life and have fun?
How well do you know me
To trust our love and feel free?
How often will you deny
To spread your wings and fly?
Don’t push yourself too hard
Be gentle with your own heart
Take your time
Being in love is not a crime
Before waving goodbye
Give it a try!

Waiting for better days

I’m dreaming of clear deep blue waters
I’m wishing to take a ride on that boat of yours
I’m willing to walk bare feet on the golden sand
I’m looking forward to getting my skin tanned
I’m hoping that sunny days will come soon
And we will stroll together under the moon.

P.S. Thank you Paul for bringing some heat and light to my cold and grey days.

Darkness and Light

You are yin
I am yang
You feel old
I’m still young
You’re down to earth
I enjoy the extreme
You are realistic
I live my dreams
You eat salty food
I prefer sweets
You feel safe at home
I travel around the world
You are surrounded by people
I prefer staying on my own
You swear by the moon
I walk under the sun
You don’t go out often
I’m always having fun
You are the night
I am the day
You stay on the shadow
I crave for the light
You worry about tomorrow
I just live today.

Until the last whisper

Photo : Paul Laurent Bressin

First cry
First impression
First hand
First class
First aid
First sight
Fist love
First kiss
First in
First out
First wrinkle
First come
First served
First second
First world

Last laugh
Last chance
Last straw
Last dance
Last burst
Last glance
Last breath
Last gasp
Last come
Last out
Last drop
Last gone
Last supper
Last minute
Last word

Undress my soul
Unwrap my body
Take me as whole
Our love is groggy
Release me from my fears
Accept all my tears
Those I’ve already cried
And the ones that will arrive
One day… Who knows?
Life is a mystery
Meanwhile, let’s just pretend
We’ll stay together
Today, tomorrow, forever.

On the bright side

My body is filled
With the heat from the South
And my soul… oh my soul
It’s just a matter of seconds
Before it starts flying away
The bright colours of the nature
The intense fragrance of the flowers
The tenderness of the leaves
All my senses are awake
And I thank the universe
For bringing me
To the bright side of life.

P. S. I dedicate these words to my dear friend Paul Laurent, who lives in Nice and is the author of the pictures.

Fairy tale

Photo : Filipa Moreira da Cruz

Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.

C. S. Lewis

I believe in fairies and elves
In giants and dragons
I believe in magic potions
That make us invincible
I believe in miracles
I’ve seen them with my own eyes
I believe life is a fairy tale
Full of surprises
You’d better start living now
Otherwise, you will be caught up by time
One day, you will be old
And you realise what you missed
Guess what?
It will be too late!
